Simon’s Story
The Challenge
Simon decided to pursue a career in the United States Navy as an Aircrewman. In excellent mental and physical shape, he scored top marks on the initial written tests and consistently participated in morning PT to prepare for the Navy. However, there was one area where he knew he might need a little extra help: the advanced swimming tests. Although Simon had swum all his life, this was different. If he chose the path of the Navy’s Aviation Rescue Swimmer, he had to demonstrate exceptional competence in the water. To prepare for these challenges, he considered enrolling in private swimming lessons to enhance his skills. The requirements included swimming 400 meters in under 11 minutes, jumping into the water in full flight gear to swim 15 meters underwater, staying afloat while treading water for a full 10 minutes, and displaying proficiency in four different strokes. With the right swimming coaching in Chattanooga, Simon hoped to excel in these tests.

It's a story of perseverance and a powerful comeback. In his 70s, Bob, a former high school swimmer, decided to dive back into competitive swimming. After a remarkable win at the 2024 Tennessee Senior Olympics, he connected with Swim423 for expert swimming coaching in Chattanooga to prepare for his next challenge: the 2025 Senior Olympics. His plan was bold—win at the state level again and head to the national championships in Des Moines, Iowa. Thanks to his incredible hard work, fantastic technique, and private swimming lessons, Bob’s dreams became a reality. His journey is an inspiration to all.

After contacting Swim423 in early spring of 2025 for private swimming lessons, I worked with him to prepare for the summer league swim season. He demonstrated remarkable dedication and quickly grasped the techniques through swimming coaching in Chattanooga. This summer at the Chattanooga City League Championship, Gio made the finals in several events and even won the High Point Award for his age group!

Joshua’s Story
A future US Air Force Special Ops overcomes fears!
When Joshua first contacted Swim423, he inquired about private swimming lessons for adults. Then, with some anxiety in his voice, he admitted, “actually, I’m afraid of water.”
Joshua is preparing to join the US Air Force, aspiring to be part of the Special Operations Command, which requires passing several physical tests, including a swimming test. As a former wrestling champion and MMA fighter, he is certainly equipped to excel in the land tests!
It has been my honor and privilege to provide swimming coaching in Chattanooga and work with Joshua over the past few months. As I got to know him better, he revealed that he had a couple of near-drowning experiences in his childhood that instilled a deep fear of the water. Now, at 19 years old, he hadn’t swum until he reached out for private swimming lessons at Swim423.
Not only has he conquered his fear of water, but he is now gliding down the pool with newfound confidence. While he still has work ahead to swim 500 yards and tread water for three minutes, he has made a fantastic start.
